At 11:00 PM Beijing time on March 20, U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a speech via video at the Digital Asset Summit (DAS) held in New York City. This marks the first time in history that a sitting U.S. president has spoken at a cryptocurrency-themed conference.

Hello, participants of the BlockWorks Digital Asset Summit. It is an honor to join you in discussing how the United States will take the lead in cryptocurrency and the next generation of financial technology.

This is no easy task, but we are already far ahead. Just two weeks ago, we held the first-ever White House Digital Asset Summit, bringing together leading figures from the global cryptocurrency industry. That event was hosted by our White House Director of Artificial Intelligence and Cryptocurrency, David Sacks—a truly outstanding and talented individual.

That same week, I also signed an executive order to establish a brand-new Bitcoin Strategic Reserve and a U.S. Digital Asset Reserve. This will allow the federal government to maximize the value of its holdings, rather than foolishly selling them at prices far below their long-term value like Biden did. He only received a fraction of what those assets were worth.

We will put an end to the previous administration’s regulatory war on cryptocurrency and Bitcoin, including the unlawful operation known as "Operation Chokepoint 2.0." Operation Chokepoint went far beyond the scope of proper regulation—so far beyond that, in fact, it can be considered a form of legal warfare weaponizing the government. Frankly, it was a disgrace. But starting January 20, 2025, all of this will end.

I am also calling on Congress to pass landmark legislation to establish simple, common-sense rules for stablecoins and market structure. With the right legal framework, institutions—both large and small—will have the freedom to invest, innovate, and participate in one of the most exciting technological revolutions in modern history.

This is extremely important. I believe it is unprecedented.

Pioneers like you will have the ability to improve our banking and payment systems, providing better privacy, security, and wealth for American consumers and businesses. You will unleash explosive economic growth.

Through stablecoins backed by the U.S. dollar, you will help strengthen the dollar’s dominance. For many years to come, the U.S. dollar will remain on top, and that is exactly what we want to ensure. We want it to always be number one.

I can already see the energy and enthusiasm of the cryptocurrency community. This spirit is exactly the kind of drive that built our nation in the first place. Watching you invent the future of finance is truly exciting.

And all of this will happen right here, in the United States—our great United States.

Together, we will make America the undisputed Bitcoin superpower and the world’s cryptocurrency capital.
