In just 12 seconds, $25 million worth of cryptocurrency was stolen! The American "hacker brothers" have been arrested and are facing trial.

According to the indictment, in April 2023, the brothers executed a meticulously planned "on-chain heist," targeting traders operating MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) bots.

Prosecutors stated that they exploited a flaw in the MEV-boost code, allowing them to preview block contents before the blocks were officially delivered to validators. They used this opportunity to manipulate transactions and steal the victims' cryptocurrency. Furthermore, after the heist, the brothers refused to return the funds, hid the stolen cryptocurrency, and engaged in money laundering. The brothers leveraged their expertise in cryptocurrency trading to profit from the Ethereum blockchain. Reportedly, both brothers studied computer science and mathematics at MIT.

If convicted, each brother faces up to 20 years in prison.
